Wisdom Teeth Evaluation and Extraction in Montreal, Villeray, Saint-Michel, Parc-Extension, Rosemont & Plateau Mont-Royal
Wisdom teeth evaluation and extraction are common procedures for patients in Montreal, Villeray, Saint-Michel, Parc-Extension, Rosemont, and Plateau Mont-Royal. It is important to have your wisdom teeth assessed at the appropriate age to prevent potential complications.
Do wisdom teeth need to be removed during adolescence?
This procedure is not always mandatory. However, an evaluation around age 16 is recommended to determine whether there is enough space for proper eruption. Early assessment allows timely intervention if needed.
Why are they called wisdom teeth?
They are called wisdom teeth because they typically develop in early adulthood, around age 18. If they are well-aligned and there is sufficient space, they can be kept. However, lack of space can lead to complications such as infections, pain, or gum inflammation.
Regular monitoring is essential, and our team will recommend the appropriate treatment if necessary. For patients in Montreal and surrounding areas, including Villeray, Saint-Michel, Parc-Extension, Rosemont, and Plateau Mont-Royal, wisdom tooth extraction is a routine and safe procedure that is generally easier to perform during adolescence than later in adulthood.
Gum Graft
When gum disease or poor brushing leads to gum recession, or when some people don’t have enough gum tissue to properly protect their teeth, a gum graft is sometimes necessary. In this case, it’s important to consult us at the first signs, as it’s best to have this treatment done as early as possible to slow its progression. In particular, in addition to reducing sensitivity and pain, this procedure reduces the risk of gum recession and, worse, tooth loss!
At the Louise Magnan Dental Centre, we use various proven techniques to perform gum grafts. This treatment is quite simple, quick, and very effective in strengthening the supporting tissues and restoring thickness and height to the gums. To learn more about the procedures used at the clinic, nothing beats a meeting! Don’t hesitate to call us for a consultation; we’d be happy to explain this treatment to you in detail.
